Who are we?
Wideawake Training was formed in 2011 by the husband and wife team of Nick and Sally Shacklock
The key personalities are:
Nick Shacklock – Director & Chief Instructor
Nick has an Honours Degree in Physiology and is a qualified First Aid Instructor. He holds certification in First Response Emergency Care, Immediate Life Support and Prehospital Trauma Life Support. He has RCN Certification in Anaphylaxis Training and is also qualified to train and certificate others in the administration of the analgesic Penthrox. He is a Community First Responder for West Midlands Ambulance Service and Chairman of the Warwickshire Hearts Charity.
Nick has held senior roles both in the private and public sector and, until the programme closed in 2010, was Director of the Department for Education’s Home Access Programme. He also spent 24 years in the Army Reserve, retiring as a Colonel.
Sally Shacklock – Director & Pharmacist
Sally is a Community Pharmacist with over 18 years community experience and a First Class Honours Degree in Pharmacy. She teaches courses in medicines management, including a 1 day course to the syllabus of the National Pharmacy Association Medicines in Care Homes qualification. She is also a demon cook!
Helen Gregory – Instructor
Helen is a Head of Department and full – time teacher in a secondary school just outside Warwickshire. She is a trained Nurse, Midwife and Community Responder. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education – not to mention being a full time Mum and GP’s wife!
Paul (Ratty) Rowlands – Instructor
Paul has worked with us for over three years now, mainly delivering annual Resuscitation Training to GPs, Nurses and Surgery staff throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. Paul is a Student Paramedic for West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Neil Ward – Instructor
Neil joined the team in December 2015. He is an experienced and fully qualified Trainer and holds the enhanced D13 Police Medic Certificate. Neil is a full- time Policeman, part time Group Scout Leader and very active Community First Responder
Tim Cronin – Instructor
Tim is an experienced Paramedic Practitioner who is just starting to deliver some of our Basic Life Support, AED and Anaphylaxis courses in GP Surgeries. He has considerable experience in the management of trauma and works as a Clinical Team Mentor for West Midlands Ambulance Service
Ian Inglesant – Instructor
Currently Operations Manager (Arden) and former Community Response Manager West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS).
Ian is a highly experienced Paramedic with a background in trauma management and Advanced Life Support. Until recently he also managed the WMAS community response to cardiac arrest programme for Coventry and Warwickshire
John Davies – Instructor
John is a highly experienced First Aider and Community Responder.
He is a Lay Preacher, a Governor of WMAS and owns a ‘Green Goddess’ Fire engine – and is trying to remember why he bought it!
